Michael is a noted healthcare expert with a strong background in financial planning, business development, growth strategies, and operational effectiveness.

Having served as Vice President of a Fortune 25 healthcare company for more than a decade, Michael brings a wealth of hospital, health systems, third-party payer management, and government-sponsored healthcare programs knowledge, as well as numerous state and national hospital association relationships to BSS Global.

Michael works with healthcare leaders, hospitals, and health systems, and various healthcare provider and supplier organizations across the United States on lobbying services, financial planning and data analysis, strategic planning, third-party payer contracting, business development and growth strategies, and overall operational effectiveness.

During his more than 40 years of experience, Michael has held several roles: Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer and lobbyist for the Mississippi Hospital Association; Administrator and Chief Executive Officer at North Mississippi Medical Center/Eupora; and President and Chief Executive Officer of Regency Hospital/Jackson.

Michael also served the Mississippi Division of Medicaid as Director of Finance and Administration/Chief Financial Officer. During this tenure, Michael worked closely with the executive branch as well as legislative leadership to design, codify, and implement a provider tax structure that resulted in millions of additional dollars coming to Mississippi’s General Fund, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in supplemental federal Medicaid payments to Mississippi’s hospitals. As CFO, he had oversight for more than $8 billion of federal and state healthcare expenditures. He managed and directed the design of a more efficient and effective provider tax model as well as the distribution of almost one billion dollars in additional payments for hospitals to help with the financial burden of uncompensated care services.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics, Respiratory Therapy program (Registered Respiratory Therapist), Belhaven University (BBA), and the University of Alabama, Birmingham (MBA/PhD Business Finance), as well as a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration.
